FanaticMU collects the minimum data needed to run a game server, uses it only for that, and does not sell or share it with anyone. Here is exactly what we keep and why.
What we collect and why
- Account name and password — required to log in to the game and the website. That is their entire purpose.
- Email address — used only for password recovery and for verifying that an account is yours if it is ever lost or disputed. We do not send marketing mail, newsletters, or anything else to it.
- IP addresses — kept for security. If someone hacks, cheats, or attacks the server, the IP record is what lets us ban them and keep them out.
- Server logs — connections, trades, kills, drops, chat reports. Logs are what makes it possible to investigate cheating, scams, and stolen accounts. They are self-explanatory: the server records what happens on it.
- Game data — your characters, items, and progress. This is the game itself, and character names with their stats appear on public rankings as part of playing an online game.
- Donation records — if you donate, we keep the transaction reference and the coins delivered. Card and bank details are handled entirely by the payment provider and never touch our servers.
What we never do
- Sell, rent, or trade your data to anyone, ever.
- Share it with third parties — the only exceptions are a payment provider processing a donation you started, or a lawful order we cannot refuse.
- Email you for anything other than your own account.
Retention and removal
Data is kept while your account exists, and logs for as long as security needs them. If you want your account deleted, contact the staff through official channels and we will remove it — with one caveat: ban records are kept, because deleting them would let banned players walk straight back in.
Cookies
The website uses only the cookies needed to keep you logged in. No advertising, no trackers, no analytics.
One piece of advice
Use a password here that you use nowhere else. That is good practice on every game server on the internet, this one included.
